Exploring the Serene Beauty of Kyoto, Japan: A Journey Through Temples and Gardens

Kyoto, Japan, a city steeped in history and tradition, is a treasure trove of temples, gardens, and historical sites that attract visitors from around the world. In part one of our Kyoto Adventure, we embarked on a journey to explore some of the most iconic landmarks this city has to offer.

Our adventure began with a scenic train ride from Nara to Kyoto, where we found ourselves surrounded by the picturesque landscape nestled in the foothills of the city. Our first stop was the serene Nanzanji Temple, a place of graceful architecture and tranquil gardens that exuded undeniable charm. As we wandered through the ancient temple grounds, we were captivated by the timeless architecture, weathered stone lanterns, and meticulously manicured gardens.

One of the highlights of our exploration was the Nanzeni Aqueduct, a captivating blend of architecture and nature that left a lasting impression. The aqueduct served as a popular spot for both locals and tourists, thanks to its photogenic appeal and picturesque setting. As we ventured further, we discovered the enchanting Nanzanin Garden, a beautifully manicured oasis of tranquility that offered a peaceful escape from the bustling crowds.

Our journey in Kyoto continued to the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine, where we were greeted by thousands of bright red Torii gates that led us up the wooded slopes of Mountari. As we ventured higher, the crowds thinned, allowing us to immerse ourselves in moments of serene solitude amidst the tranquil surroundings.

However, amidst the beauty and serenity of Kyoto, there lies a troubling trend of tourists behaving badly, particularly in the Geisha districts. Instances of tourists harassing Geishas and Maikos have raised concerns, leading to the enforcement of stricter regulations to protect these cultural icons and maintain the sanctity of Kyoto’s traditions.

As travelers, it is imperative to respect the customs and regulations of the countries we visit and uphold the integrity of their cultural heritage.
