Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, is renowned for its stunning beauty, especially during the autumn season when the leaves transform into a vibrant mix of colors. Our adventure in Kyoto begins after a short train ride from Osaka, fuelled by the promise of delicious ramen. Upon arrival at a popular ramen spot, we discover that the meticulous preparation and heavenly taste are worth the hour-long wait, with the melt-in-your-mouth pork being an undeniable highlight.
With our appetites satisfied, we immediately set out towards the breathtaking Hangi Temple. Morning visits are magical—sunlight filtering through red and orange leaves. While the foliage was still changing, the allure of the temple is nothing short of spectacular. Next on our list is the iconic Fushimi Inari Shrine. We embark on a hike through the famous red gates, which provides not only a workout but stunning perspective and ambiance, even amidst the early morning crowds.
Shifting our focus toward the cozy alleys of Kyoto, we venture into a charming restaurant that flawlessly marries Korean cuisine with sushi. The ambiance is cozy, further enhanced by the romantic, rainy weather that evening. The reflections on the cobblestone streets as the city lights lit up created a picture-perfect scene straight out of a film.
On our last day, we explored the modern side of Kyoto at the bustling Kyoto Station, where ancient meets contemporary style. Enjoying delicious katsu and freshly made desserts capped off our visit perfectly. While we felt bittersweet leaving this enchanting city, our next destination awaits us in Tokyo, promising more adventures and sights.
As we conclude our time in Kyoto, the memories of its rich traditions amidst the stunning landscapes linger, reminding us of the city’s timeless charm. Whether you’re wandering through its temples or indulging in local cuisine, Kyoto in autumn is undeniably an experience to cherish.
